所未聞經聞之不疑,不與聲聞而相違背。

A bodhisattva does not doubt any sutra which he has never heard before; however, its teachings must not contradict the sound-hearer [sravaka] dharma.

所以,要具有這個聞之不疑的善根,就必須同時不與聲聞而相違背,要以這個原則作前提。如果沒有這個前提,外道寫出來的如是我聞等等,你也信了,那麼學佛學到後來,將會變成學外道而不是學佛了。假使不與聲聞而相違背,才有可能是真實經典;而般若系列的經典,第三轉輪的唯識系列經典,都與二乘聲聞解脫道的四部阿含完全沒有違背之處,並且更為勝妙。

Therefore, in order to have the wholesome root of hearing a sutra without any doubt, one should make sure that the sutra’s teachings do not deviate from the sound-hearer dharma. Without this premise, one would believe in non-Buddhist texts that begin with the words “Thus have I heard,” and eventually end up studying non-Buddhism instead of Buddhism. A sutra can only be authentic if it does not contradict the sound-hearer dharma. In fact, the sutras of prajna series and the sutras of vijnana-only series in the third round of dharma-transmission do not violate at all the sound-hearer Liberation Way of Two Vehicles expounded in the four Agamas, but are even more wondrous.
